Discouragement

When Jaison and I got married, we were given a beautiful handmade quilt with this scripture printed on the bottom  “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” Galatians 6:9

I have not given up, but I am weary.

When we were praying about moving to Omaha, God confirmed that we should move over and over again through the scripture where Peter walks on water.  We believed that we were supposed to take a step of faith, keep our eyes on Jesus and not be intimidated by the storm.

If we had known how intimidating the storm would be, we would have had a very difficult time taking that step.  I still believe we did the right thing, but I am struggling to keep my eyes on Jesus, because some days I can’t even see Him through the storm.

It is very tempting, in this season, to quit “doing good.”  Sometimes, it seems that those around us who are not “doing good” are reaping good things while we are struggling. It is very discouraging.

However, even while writing that, I cannot help but be reminded of the blessings that God has given us in the midst of the struggles.
