The Kindness of the Lord

The last several months have  been a dark season for Jaison and I.  In June, we almost lost our baby. In November, we lost a significant portion of our income.  In December, my Grandpa passed away. In January, my dad was diagnosed with Lung Cancer. He passed away in February.  I had to make the decisions that allowed his life to end.

Quite honestly, I am still in shock.  I am in debt to Grief…too busy to process all that has happened…not sure who to trust with the sludge in my soul.  This has been one of the darkest seasons of my life.  It is very difficult, I will not deny that.

If  someone had told me a story just like mine a year or so ago,  I would have questioned how someone could endure all of that. I would have prayed that God would not allow those things to happen to me.  I would not have been able to imagine the pain.

However,  I had a tremendous sense of peace through it all. I was able to keep a clear mind and make the decisions that needed to be made.  I can say without a doubt, the kindness and grace of Jesus were with me.

In Philippians 4, Paul talks about “the peace of God, which transcends all understanding.”   I know that peace.  2 Corinthians 12:9  says “my grace is sufficient for you…”  I know that grace.

Our God is kind, even when the unimaginable happens.

I am too continually amazed at the kindness of God. Just a few days after we lost Izaak Tim and I were chatting and I remember saying to him how kind God has been to us. It feels like such a strange thing to say after all you’ve been through but seeing that kindness in the midst pain allows our souls to begin to heal.

    • You guys have been through so much…I can’t even imagine. It’s amazing that you were able see God’s kindness even that soon after such a tremendous loss. Your story is a testimony to so many people. You have no idea how many people that have been touched by your example. I am sure that the healing process is going to be a journey for you…praying that God shows His love and kindness to you every day.

  2. Wow Stacey. You have certainly gone through the fire.

May God be with you, especially in mourning the departure of loved ones.

    We are thinking of you.
